  • Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be given on merit rather than 1st, 2nd and 3rd placements. Awards are given to as many modellers that achieve the required standard.
  • Points will be awarded for each medal. The club winning the highest number of points will be awarded the Club Trophy this is a Club Only Trophy consisting of the General Gordon Shield, a returnable trophy.
  • All entrants are encouraged to include their clubs full name on the competition slip to enable the General Gordon Shield to be award correctly.
  • The Colin Bowen trophy will be given to the Senior Best of Show and the Jean Bickerstaff Trophy will be given to the Junior Best of Show.
  • The term “Military” includes irregular troops, warriors and fantasy.
  • The term “Scratch built” excludes any kit that is commercially available.
  • A model may be moved to the next appropriate class if it is deemed that it does not meet the requirements of its class.
  • Where a figure is scratch-built or converted, the modeller should provide details on the entry form. If the degree of conversion is not considered significant, the model may be transferred to the standard class.
  • Models of similar scales will be judged as subgroups as awards are made on the basis of quality and not placement.
  • Any model considered inappropriate for display (showing indecency, inappropriate violence or likely to cause offence) will be removed, as models must be suitable to be viewed by the public and juniors.
  • Junior entries will be grouped and judged by age categories 5-7 years/ 8-12 years and 13-16 years. Entries may be of any nature including military, civilian, fantasy or futuristic. Please note juniors should ensure their age is included on the competition slip.
  • A panel of judges consisting of at least 2 persons will undertake judging of each class.
  • Best in Show Award: This is selected from all the Gold Medal winners, buy means of a closed personal vote from all the individual judges, for their personal favourite among the Gold Medal work on show, the votes are counted and if there is a tiebreak, the Chief Judge will have the casting vote.
  • The Competition: Every effort has been taken to accommodate the modeller with a wide diversity of Classes for our expanding hobby. If you are still unsure as to which class your models should be entered into then please ask a Steward or the Chief Judge who will make every effort to help you.

The Chief Judge’s decision is final.

Adult Competition Classes

Class 1: THE MARLBOROUGH TROPHY

Single foot figure (Military) up to 65mm.

Class 2: THE JAMES WOLFE TROPHY

Single foot figure (Military) 65mm and over.

Class 3: THE UXBRIDGE TROPHY

Single mounted figure (Military) any scale.

Class 4: THE CHURCHILL TROPHY

Single converted or scratch-built foot figure (Military) any scale.

Class 5: THE WELLESLEY TROPHY

Single converted or scratch-built mounted figure (Military) any scale.

Class 6: THE HEINRICHSEN TROPHY

Figure Vignettes of any scale. The model may contain up to but no more than 3 figures with a military theme.

Class 7: THE WOLSLEY TROPHY

Figure dioramas of any scale. The model must contain 4 figures or more, include groundwork and tell a story or theme. AFVs or artillery pieces may not be included although other equipment is allowed.

Class 8: THE WILLCOX TROPHY

Busts of Military / Warriors / Irregulars any scale.

Class 9: THE AUCHINLECK TROPHY

Flats (any subject).

Class 10: THE MONTGOMERY TROPHY

Single AFV or artillery piece any scale. Models may include groundwork but no figures.

Class 11: THE PATTON TROPHY

Single AFV or artillery vignette any scale. The model may include groundwork and up to but no more than 3 figures relevant to the vehicle or theme.

Class 12: THE HAVELOCK TROPHY

AFV or Artillery Diorama any scale. The model can include more than one vehicle. Where a single vehicle is displayed at least 4 figures relevant to the theme must be included.

Class 13: THE LIDDELL HART TROPHY

Single converted or scratch-built AFV or artillery piece any scale. Where the vehicle is converted, the modeller should provide details on the entry form.

Class 14: THE NORRIS TROPHY

Single converted or scratch-built AFV or artillery piece any scale unpainted.

Class 15: THE TRENCHARD TROPHY

Military aircraft any scale. The model may include groundwork and figures.

Class 16: THE ADMIRAL BEATTY TROPHY

Naval Vessels - Ship’s, Submarine’s, Submersibles, Landing craft, etc any scale.

Class 17: THE LEYLAND TROPHY

Non-military transport and vehicles any scale. May include cars, buses, lorries, ships aircraft etc. of a non-military nature.

Class 18: THE TOLKIEN TROPHY

Single Fantasy figures up to 65mm.

Class 19: THE FELLOWSHIP TROPHY

Single Fantasy figures 65mm and over

Class 20: THE SHELLEY TROPHY

War gaming figures up to 35mm. The number of figures used is unlimited. Limited use of vehicles and other equipment is permitted if relevant to a storyline.

Class 21: THE BRITAINS TROPHY

Miscellaneous Figures and toy soldiers. Entries may include model figures of a non-military or classified as toy soldiers.

Class 22: THE COLONEL WILLIAM CODY TROPHY

Anything Wild West; Cowboys, Gun Slingers, Native Indians. Foot figures; Mounted Figures or Busts, any scale.

Junior Competition Classes

Up To 16 Years of Age

Class 23:THE CHAOS TROPHY

Figures up to 35mm, may include groups or squads of war gaming figures.

Class 24: THE CAMPBELL TROPHY

Figures over 35mm to any scale.

Class 25: THE SPITFIRE TROPHY

Junior entry for vehicles or transport any scale. May include AFVs, cars, bikes, aircraft, ships or any other mode of transport and can be either military or non military in nature.
